On 18 November, in cooperation with the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Estonian National Museum opened the renewed travelling exhibition on mittens titled “With Covered Hands”. The Estonian National Museum’s Director, Laura Kipper, also travelled to Kazakhstan as part of the presidential delegation.
Estonia-Swedes have lived on Estonian coasts and islands for centuries, according to written sources, since at least the 13th century, and have become a distinctive part of the country’s diverse cultural landscape.
The solo exhibition of world-renowned Japanese artist and composer Ryoji Ikeda, which ran from 2 November to 2 March, attracted 34,024 visitors in four months. A further 704 students participated in the exhibition's educational programs.
The DHNB 2025 conference, themed "Digital Dreams and Practices," explores the vision and practice of digital humanities, aiming to highlight the societal value of digital data collections and research. In line with contemporary developments, the conference will place special emphasis on the role of artificial intelligence in the humanities and the analysis of digital archives and datasets. The program includes over 100 presentations, with keynote speakers Maciej Eder, Andrea Kocsis, and Meelis Kull.
From 30 October to 2 November, the Estonian National Museum hosted the international conference ‘Sustainability in Practice: DIY Repair, Reuse and Innovation’.
The conference emphasised the importance of the repair and DIY culture in ecological sustainability, shedding light on repairing, reusing and daily invention in the past as well as the present.
The Estonian National Museum (ERM) launched two large-scale research projects in 2024 with the aim of supporting the digital development of museums, finding new ways to use digital cultural heritage, and increasing collaboration between museums and the gaming industry.
