On 24 July, the Estonian National Museum will be taken over for the next six months by the fantastical universe of world-renowned British artist Monster Chetwynd. Her large-scale exhibition A Feather in Your Hat! brings monsters and folklore together with contemporary art and play.
Alongside the exhibition, the opening weekend will feature contemporary circus, the construction of a new home for monsters, hat-making and plenty of shared experiences .

The duo of Ireen Peegel and Jaakko Repola combines physical theatre, dance, music and contemporary circus into a poetic whole that audiences can experience as a living installation. Discover new atmospheres, emotions and encounters on 24 July at 15.00.
🏠 Build a Monster’s Home with Arhitektuurikool
Every monster needs somewhere to live — from ghouls and nightmares to the mythical Northern Frog. But what might a monster’s home look like?
The imaginative instructors from Arhitektuurikool have created the foundations of a monster’s home inside the exhibition hall. The rest is yours to explore and experiment with. Pick up a piece of fabric and shape the space, or become a spider and weave an obstacle course — then see how the space transforms.
You can build the monster’s home together with the instructors on 24 July from 15.30 to 18.00 and on 25 July from 12.00 to 15.00.
✂️ Hat-making workshop
Step inside our hat factory! This is where bright and distinctive hats, caps and headpieces are made — for princes, monsters, fantastical creatures and completely unknown beings.
Your hat does not need to be perfect or beautiful. A crooked horn, an enormous eye or a monstrous detail might be exactly what gives it character. What will yours look like? Come and find out.
ERM’s visitor guides will lead the workshop for participants of all ages on Sunday, 26 July at 12.00.
