Digital heritage, games and co-creation – a seminar and discussions

What happens to cultural heritage after digitisation? How can we turn museum collections, stories and data into something we can play with, create something new from, or explore in entirely different ways?

The Digital Culture Forum brings together people working across museums, gaming, research and the creative industries to explore new uses for digital heritage. We’ll discuss how to make digital heritage playable, experiential and meaningful, what role games could play in museums, and what happens when cultural heritage meets technology at a time when technological change seems to be accelerating at a dizzying pace. The forum is as much about practical experiences and opportunities for collaboration as it is about imagining bold new experiments. Alongside talks and discussions, visitors will also get to explore games and prototypes that have already taken shape.

But the day doesn’t end with the forum. At 18:00, we’ll move into an experimental evening programme where digital heritage, interactive art, audiovisual performances and games become something you can touch, experience and explore. In other words, the evening is a chance to see and hear some of what we’ve been talking about all afternoon. And, of course, to try it for yourself.

Participation is free. This is a public event, and photographs may be taken during the programme.

The full programme and speakers will be announced soon.
