     The winter of 1940-1941 was very cold. Father got married again in the autumn of 1940. The marriage lasted only for three months. I remember when in January 1941 they came to arrest him, they also searched the house. I was keeping a diary at that time. After one of the searchers had read it through, I stopped writing.

     Father was taken away at night. First he was in prison in Kuressaare. I took him some food there. The warder always asked who I was. Father was detained for half a year. The arrest order had been signed by Riis. Then the verdict was announced. It was a death warrant, which was executed in Tallinn on June 23, 1941.
